Count my teeth and number my bones The fossils of apostles are worshipped in stone The sanctity of scorched earth The tome of the passed (past) Lies buried in earth and in ash The heavens fall down The mountains burn with fire The Salt Wife looks back A Lazarus denied Don’t Look Back Burning of pitch and flames of revolution Smashing in mirrors for the source of salvation The old laws are cast upon the flame And lie buried in earth and in ash Count my teeth and number my bones The fossils of apostles are worshipped in stone The sanctity of scorched earth The tome of the passed (past) Lies buried in earth and in ash Lyrics copyright Lynnette Shelley

Stretching ‘cross the waves of broken days A captain peers through sea-green foam Leviathan appears, mythos serene Cerulean swirls in a tidal pool’s whirls A ship is lost, the sea is tossed Deep within the ocean’s thrall The captain hears the seagull’s call In the cold kiss of ocean’s mists Embraced by the black abyss Tides break away, the lighthouse dims and fades Cerulean swirls in a tidal pool’s whirls A ship is lost, the sea is tossed Deep within the ocean’s call A captain hears the seagull’s call In the belly of a whale A sea king remembers forgotten tales Far beneath the blue white of the foam A creature stirs out of the gloam Out of the ocean he will roar Out of the ocean he will rise with venom and with spit To take the sea king into his fathomless pit Lyrics copyright Lynnette Shelley

Crimson 04:31
I sit and watch while you’re sleeping Beneath your lids plays a vision I touch your cheek with burning envy I want to sink inside of your skin Constructing languages in dream time Frustrated tears fill your day time I long to be the one who gets in Your sleeping mouth just whispers “crimson” You need to be tied to your bed So you won’t float away from your head One night control may desert you And you’ll remain in crimson Lyrics copyright Mark S. Walsh

Sea of Rust 05:13
I call myself the captain I sail the sea of rust I am always starving I feed off your trust Weariness defines me Makes me what I am A solitary sailor Who craves the promised land The shore so far behind me Before me endless glass Drifting on my future To others, tragic past Refuse to honor history To heed what has been said The billion eyes of heaven Has pinned me to my bed Lyrics by Mark S. Walsh

Drink 06:47
She came by the morning light Her hair rivaled the sun Back-lit like a stained glass saint I lie there staring, drunk again I don’t believe that the measure of love is pain I don’t believe I could pay that price again A soul is not limitless As my pride seems so bottomless But her love stole my confidence So I broke my own heart again I don’t believe that the measure of love is pain I don’t believe I could pay that price again Who will judge the injustice? To myself and the one I love I shall nurse my solemnity With sleeplessness and drink tonight I don’t believe that the measure of love is pain I don’t believe I could pay that price again Lyrics by Mark S. Walsh

RETURN TO YOU Verse 1 When will we meet again, When will we feel again Open our eyes to the beauty of us again How will it feel to be drowning in you again? Time can't erase but the spirit grows weak.... Verse 2 The miracle of you was permission to live again My lips brushed the hem of the robes of a goddess Where do you go again, living white porcelain? Leaving me here with the grace of a corpse… Bridge Sacred Spaces that you haunt I gave everything to keep you here But my sacrifices were too dear No burnt offering can hold you When the supplicant is unclean Into to Chorus Release the birds They'll return to you Release the birds I can read their signs Release the birds They'll return to you No haruspex can tell me the truth Main Chorus Nothing can hold us together now The glue is gone Nothing can keep us apart As my thoughts return to you Nothing can hold.... Verse 3 What does it mean for us to wake up in agony Our pens full of blood as we write our own tragedy Why do we treat hellishly a love once so heavenly The brutalized icon will stand to remind us.... Verse 3 When we were young and we danced through the ritual Laughing at sacrilege, we'd sing at our funeral Why can't we return to the time of innocence When in burning temples our devotion lasted hours Main Chorus Nothing can hold us together now The glue is gone Nothing can keep us apart As my thoughts return to you Nothing can hold Nothing can hold Nothing can hold us together now Nothing can hold Nothing can hold Nothing can hold us together now Release the birds Release the birds Release the birds And they'll return to you Release the birds Release the birds No haruspex can tell me the truth Nothing can hold us together now The glue is gone Nothing can keep us apart As my thoughts return to you Lyrics by Mark S. Walsh and Lynnette Shelley

Autumn 07:57
She said to wait But it’s getting late More than a year I wish that she were here Autumn, it’s almost autumn Where is she now The country was cold And I’m growing old She called me “the one” She’d be back with the warming sun Autumn, it’s almost autumn Where is she now (2x) She said to wait But it’s getting late More than 1 year I wish that she were here Autumn, it’s almost autumn Where is she now (2x) Lyrics by Mark S. Walsh

The twisted roots are grasping In frozen darkness below The serpent smiles with scintillating eyes Opens its mouth to swallow its tail to move Between worlds and push aside the veil Snow lies thickly on the branches of the trees Their arms bend heavily to the icy drifts below On the spire the dark crow In this quickly falling mystery What was clear and what was bright shall fade and hide from sight On the spire the dark crow Crescent crowned the Queen of Night Lays her mantle of stars so bright I dream of summer in this frozen light Push aside winter’s veil And see the serpent sleep below Coiled in roots and the darkness deep I wait for a glimpse of his widening eye High above High above the dark crow is calling to me Push aside the winter’s white veil.... Lyrics by Lynnette Shelley

about

This is the debut album for Philadelphia art rock band, Green Cathedral. It is available for digital download through Bandcamp, CD Baby, iTunes and more, as well as limited edition CDs through CD Baby.

*This Bandcamp digital download also includes a video of the band's song "Maps of Ancient Sea Kings"

Green Cathedral is made up of original music industry veterans from the Art-Rock, Post-Punk, Prog and Electronic music worlds, collaborating on a sound that incorporates all of these elements to thrilling effect. Green Cathedral members Lynnette Shelley (vocals), Mark S. Walsh (bass/vocals), Matthew Gambino (drums), and Dean Zigoris (Guitar) were joined by session musician Joe Paglia on keyboards and recorded with the legendary Philadelphia producer Mark Montoro of Philly Jam Recording.

Green Cathedral is taking a meticulous crafting of songs with focus on musicianship and performance and infusing their material with unmistakable emotion that draws the listener in. Lyrically, the band explores the mythologies of this and other times, as well as the inner journeys of the mind, heart and soul. The music can be simultaneously esoteric and inviting, beautiful and sometimes aggressive. With their focus always on the song, Green Cathedral achieves Art-Rock sensibility with Pop hooks, strong melodies and choruses. This music expands the boundaries of radio friendly rock for the thinking class while never alienating the listener.
